Nagorik Committee 2006 will
continue to engage in promoting clean and competent candidates in
politics
A meeting of the “Nagorik Committee 2006” was held on Saturday 20
January 2007 at the CPD Dialogue Room.
The meeting reviewed the work of the Nagorik Committee 2006
involving the campaign for clean and competent candidates,
preparation of Bangladesh Vision 2021 and implementation of
political and electoral reforms.
The meeting expressed its opinion in favour of a free, fair and
acceptable election at an early date. The meeting further called for
creation of a conducive environment, and articulation and
implementation of the necessary laws and regulations so that clean
and competent candidates are able to get nominated and elected.
Chaired by Rehman Sobhan, Convenor of the Nagorik Committee 2006,
the meeting was attended by Anisuzzaman, Abul Ahsan, Moinul Hussain
Chowdhury, Samson H Chowdhury, Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, M Mujibul Huq,
Mahmudul Islam, Jamal Nazrul Islam, Mahmuda Islam, Laila Rahman
Kabir, M Hafizuddin Khan, Wahiduddin Mahmud, Iqbal Mahmud, Latifur
Rahman, Abdullah Abu Sayeed and A S M Shahjahan. Debapriya
Bhattacharya facilitated the meeting as Member Secretary.
