First Meeting of
the Citizen’s Committee 2006 held
The
first meeting of the Citizen’s
Committee was held on Saturday, 15
April 2006 at the CPD’s Dialogue
Room. The meeting decided on the
scope and modalities for preparing
the Vision Paper for Bangladesh for
next 15 years (up to 2020). It also
discussed how to promote competent
candidates in the forthcoming
election. The Citizen’s Committee
also appraised itself about CPD’s
pre-election activities.
The Citizen’s Committee decided to
include Mr M Hafizuddin Khan,
Advocate Sultana Kamal and Ms Angela
Gomes as new members into the group.
Professor Rehman Sobhan, Chairman,
CPD and Convener of the Citizen’s
Committee chaired the meeting. The
meeting was attended by Mr Fazle
Hasan Abed, Ambassador Abul Ahsan,
Dr Anisuzzaman, Mr Samson H
Chowdhury, Professor Jamilur Reza
Chowdhury, Syed Manzur Elahi, Mr M
Mujibul Huq, Professor Mohammad
Zafar Iqbal, Dr Mahmuda Islam, Mr
Mahmudul Islam, Ms Laila Rahman
Kabir, Dr Iqbal Mahmud, Mr Latifur
Rahman, Professor Abdullah Abu
Sayeed and Mr A S M Shahjahan. Dr
Debapriya Bhattacharya, Executive
Director, CPD attended the meeting
as Member Secretary of the Citizen’s
Committee.Mr Mahfuz Anam and Mr
Abdul Quayum Mukul were present at
the meeting on invitation. |
