About CPD-ARTNeT Cell
CPD-ARTNeT Cell
has been established at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD)
under an agreement between CPD and the
Asia Pacific Research
and Training Network on Trade (ARTNeT). The Cell will work
to strengthen ARTNeT research and networking activities and
broaden ownership and ensure more active participation from
member countries like Bangladesh.
The CPD is one of the leading civil society think-tanks in
Bangladesh. It has been working on frontier policy
researches which are important to the development process of
Bangladesh particularly trade and investment policy research
and informed policy debates through organization of
dialogues and discussions with major stakeholders, including
policy makers and development practitioners.
ARTNeT is a regional research and training networking
platform to facilitate capacity building through regional
research projects and delivery the homegrown research on
trade and investment related policy issues to developing
countries of the region, as well as to promote collaboration
among development agencies and international organizations
involved in trade and investment related research and
capacity building in Asia and the Pacific.
The key objective of the CPD-ARTNeT Cell is to build a
regional institutional trade-related research capacity.
Being a founding member of the ARTNeT, CPD has been
pro-actively involved in various activities of ARTNeT since
its inception in 2004 including trade-related research,
participating in ARTNeT organized training/ workshops,
discussion meetings and conferences/seminars as well as
attending in the annual ARTNeT Steering Committee meetings.
Functions of the Cell
The focal point of the Cell will perform following
functions:
a) Implement relevant component of research programme to
contribute to ARTNeT regional studies;
b) Liaise with ARTNeT Secretariat at the UN-ESCAP with
regard to various initiatives being taken up by the ARTNeT;
c) Help ARTNeT to identify relevant policy topics for
further research from the perspective of the needs of
Bangladesh;
d) Facilitate organization of national-level
policy-forum/consultation meeting;
e) Develop a proposal for regional research in collaboration
with ARTNeT Secretariat for submission to relevant donors.
